The purpose of this guide is to give you information and links to medical applications available for your mobile devices.  Use the tabs above to access these resources.

 

Free Clinical Apps

Medscape - leading evidence-based medical reference resource. Contains information on conditions, procedures, drugs and drug interactions. Available for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire.

Skyscape - has a clinical consult feature with over 850 topics, as well as a drug guide, calculators, and MedBeats featuring breaking clinical news and drug alerts. Available for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire.

Electronic Preventive Services Selector from the U. S. Dept. of Human Services helps clinicians better assess screening, counseling, medication, and treatments appropriate for their patients.  Gives best quality recommendations based on the information entered. Available for iOS, Android, Blackberry.

MedPage Today provides breaking medical news, comprehensive reference material for over 30 specialties, and opportunities for free CME/CE credits. Available for iOS, and Android.

Docphin will send current medical reports of research and other medical topics you specify to your mobile device. It can also provide access to journal articles if you have access to that journal.  Search PubMed, follow topics and/or authors, and current medical news. Available for iOS and Android.

Medical Dictionary with Health Calculator provides descriptions of common diseases with images. Also has blood pressure calculator, blood sugar calulator, body mass indicator calculator, and cholesterol calculator. Available for iOS.

Diseases Dictionary provides detailed description for all major diseases and disorders with causes, symptoms, treatments, medications and drug interactions and side effects. Available for Android.

Sensitivity & Specificity gives the sencitivity and specificity of hundreds of medical tests with literature citations included. Available for iOS and Android.

 

Fee-Based Clinical Apps

Lab Tests Online-M contains detailed information on hundreds of laboratory tests as well as descriptions of diseases cross-linked by the tests to diagnose and treat them. Also provides peer-reviewed articles that explain hard-to-understand concepts and policies and guidelines that govern the use of tests. Available for iOS for $.99.

ICD9 Consult 2015 diagnosis codes are searchable and browsable by categories. Search by code diagnosis, included diagnoses, and description. Images within the list indicate whether a code is specific or nonspecific. Tap to view the diagnosis and long description. Available for iOS for $4.99.

Diagnosaurus DDx provides information on over 1000 differential diagnoses by organ system, sympton, and disease. There is also a related DDx section for alternative diagnoses, and an etiology section to determine the cause of the condition. Available for iOS for $4.99.
