Chiropractic in Europe
International women in chiropractic struggled to receive recognition. Marjaleena Mäkinen, a 1968 Palmer graduate, returned to Finland to start her own practice. She was challenged by the National Board of Health (NBH). Despite confrontation, she was still able to open her own practice in Pori, Finland, and it still exists today as the oldest chiropractic clinic in Finland.

Helen McKenzie was the first Australian graduate, completing her studies at Palmer in 1923.
